My University profile

My University in Taiwan is the Chinese Culture University (CCU) located in the surrounding area of taipei, in the mountains. This area is Called Yangmingshan. 

« Shan » in Chinese mean « mountain ». It is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan. This place is very famous and known by the hikers. I have already make an Hiking in this area ! It was wonderful.

So you probably noticed that my university is far from the center of Taipei. To go there, first I take the subway direction « Tamsui » it’s the red line. I stop to « Jiantan » and after I have to take the bus. There is the « R5 » or the « 360 ». 

In total it’s take one hour and a half from my house to the university. The bus is the most annoying, because too many people want to take it (the other students from the university and the people who wanted to make Hiking). So sometimes, you can see two buses passt in front of you but you cannot get in.

CCU was established in 1962. We are 32,000 students. At the beginning I was really suprised because with Lucile, the other student from ESDES we are the only two occidental person in our courses, the other foreign student come from Japan and Vietnam. We have a group presentation and we are with two taiwainese girl very nice. In reality it’s not very easy to communicate with our asian classmates because there are very shy. In class, teachers let's students do what they want : ask on the phone if it’s ringing, go out and then come back with food, have sunglasses and hats ... 

An other fact was strange : we haven’t had an integration day or week end. Maybe because we are just a little number of foreign students. Futhermore we don’t really have informations about clubs or school associations. 

Our courses are very interesting. One of them is Calligraphy. We learn how written in Chinese and discover new words. Then we have business English, Management and Introduction of anglo/american Law.
